I'm Just Saying ...

...  D'Jango Unchained.  Three hours I'll never get back.

... The Sisterhood.  That "reality" show about First Ladies on TLC.  I'll just say this:  I am a fifth generation pastor.  I've been in church all my life.  I was raised in and by the church.  I KNOW the Black church.  And I have never in my entire life's experience encountered any First Lady who even remotely resembles the ladies on this show.

... Beyonce lip-synching at Inaugural.  Now I'm not a fan, but I understand why a singer might want a back-up recording on such a big day, especially when it's cold outside.  Your voice is a muscle and cold weather affects any muscle's ability to function at optimal performance.  Here's my issue:  if she did it, she should just say she did it instead of letting the controversy drag on and on and on and on.  Guess she knows she's gonna have to sing live at the Superbowl.

...  I'm sick of people who don't know me -- and that includes the media -- assuming that because I'm Black and devoutly Christian, then I must be homophobic.  That's an awfully big brush they're painting with, and near as I can tell, Black Christians are not so easily defined.

... On my reading list right now:  Malcolm X:  A Life of Reinvention by Manning Marable.  You can't argue about it if you haven't read it ...

... Must Read:  The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot ... you have GOT to read this book; it is one of the best books I've ever read.
